Weddings, Ceremonies and Blessings
As an Ordained Interfaith Minister it is my joy to perform ceremonies that are heart based and meaningful to those coming together in union with each other. After meeting and speaking with the couple it is then my pleasure to ensure that each ceremony lovingly expresses the essence of their love for each other. It is my wish to create a service that has the interests and wishes of the participants as the heart of the ceremony, and one that will have their friends and family forever grateful to have witnessed.
Weddings, Ceremonies, Blessings and More
A funny story: When I was planning my wedding many years ago I was absolutely thrilled that my uncle, Father Leo Cannon, a Catholic Priest, was going to be the officiant. He was going to travel from Rhode Island to New York to come to my parish and perform the ceremony. Although he had called my parents to let us know he would do the ceremony, he said there was no need for him and I to speak and that he would see me on the day of the wedding. I had not seen my uncle in about 4 years at that point, didn’t really know him well, but I was sure it would be a wonderful and memorable service, because after all, I was his family. I honestly still remember reminding myself, right before I walked down the aisle, that I would listen to everything he had to say during the ceremony, thinking he would have chosen great spiritual pearls of wisdom to impart to both my about to be husband Ed, and myself. I truly wish I was able to say that that was the case. Unfortunately, Uncle Leo, who at this point in his life had officiated at many weddings, during our ceremony said nothing personal about Ed or I and gave us the “standard issue wedding mass .” Although he did not give me anything to cherish as far as golden words, he did give me the knowledge to know that there is a better way to do ceremony! Whether it is a wedding ceremony, a commitment ceremony, a baby blessing or a house or store blessing, it is such a joy to participate with those involved to create a service that is meaningful and uplifting. Having many years of experience as an ordained interfaith minister, I can suggest poetry, readings, vows and ideas to make any type of event memorable and meaningful. It is my goal to work with my clients and together create the ceremony of their dreams, whatever that may be!
